I’d set it up like this for a decade but recently after replacing my age-old a/v receiver, I had another look into the hookups and scrubbed it a bit more…made it cleaner and better (audio, video) connections. I also decided to document the wiring this time, so next time (could be years from now, I hope) it’ll be less guess-work on my part. My requirements aren’t straightforward, they had to meet the following criteria and as a result, I can presume my entertainment hookup is more involved/advanced than most home networks 🙂 Actually, my home network which serves all over the house and backyard is simpler mainly because of wi-fi equipments.
My requirements:
2 TVs can simultaneously show the same cable channel
Each TV can also independently show different video and play audio
Both must go through the same audio receiver and play through the external speakers and subwoofer
Roku is hooked up to a particular TV (but audio through same receiver and external speakers)
BluRay/DVD plays on a particular TVÂ (but audio through same receiver and external speakers)
And international DVD player (for my videos acquired from my Europe trips)Â plays on a particular TVÂ (but audio through same receiver and external speakers)
While all audio goes through same receiver when it’s on, can optionally play through each TV’s own speaker
Game console is hooked up to a particular TV
So, here’s how it ended up after some experimentation…
